Common questions
- My child pressed Need Help but I did not get an alert.
- Check that notifications are enabled for Kirk on your phone and that both phones have a connection. The alert shows its own state — Sending, Retrying, Sent, or Seen — in the app, so you can see exactly how far it got.
- What does Sent mean, exactly?
- Sent means the push notification was accepted for delivery. It does not mean anyone has read it. Only Seen means a person opened the alert.
- How do I pair or unlink a child's phone?
- Pairing happens from the main parent account in the app. If a child's phone is unlinked, every adult on the family receives an unlink alert — Kirk never removes a child quietly.
- Screen time is missing on my child's Android phone.
- Daily screen time summaries and app time limits are available on iPhone. They have not shipped in the Android child app yet, so they will not appear there.
- How do I change who can see what?
- The main parent (owner) controls access. Guardians are view-only, and emergency contacts receive Need Help alerts and nothing else.
- Billing, refunds, or cancelling.
- Subscriptions are billed by Apple, so cancellations and refunds are handled in Apple's subscription settings. Kirk cannot cancel or refund on your behalf. Invited guardians pay nothing.
- How do I delete my account and data?
- In the app, go to Settings → Delete Account. Deletion is permanent and removes every child, guardian, and alert. You can also write to support@projectkirk.app from the email on the account.
- What if the app is deleted from my child's phone?
- Parents are notified once the child's phone has been silent for 48 hours. Kirk records a last check-in each time the app opens, and that silence is what triggers the notice.
